The Clovelly takes its name from Clovelly Ocean Pool in Sydney's east — part of a collection of Handle & Kate pieces whose forms are influenced by Sydney's ocean pools.
The Clovelly 52mm is a finger pull — a single upright form with a small horizontal projection that the hand hooks beneath to open a drawer or cabinet door. At 52mm in length with a 32mm projection and a single fixing point, it is well suited to fine joinery where a traditional furniture pull would be oversized, and to drawers and cabinet doors where a minimal hardware profile is part of the design intention. Designers frequently specify it for bedroom joinery, bathroom vanities and bespoke furniture commissions where restraint is the defining characteristic of the interior.
Slip cast on Gadigal & Bidjigal Country in Sydney from a local clay with porcelain qualities, each Clovelly 52mm is trimmed and finished by hand before being bisque fired, glazed and glaze fired in our studio. The hand-forming of each piece is visible in the finished object and facilitates a more tactile experience with use and time.
The Clovelly 52mm furniture pull is available in eight glaze finishes, ranging from the gloss depth of Black Pearl and White Caps to the feel of satin matte glazes Salt Spray and Squid Ink Black. The sheer glazes — Lagoon, Deep Sea, Oyster and Crystal Clear — are particularly suited to interiors where the clay body itself is part of the design intention, allowing the porcelain to read through the finish. All glazes are food safe and waterproof, making the Clovelly 52mm appropriate for wet areas and outdoor cabinetry as well as interior settings.
