The Clovelly takes its name and elongated form from Clovelly Ocean Pool in Sydney's east — part of a collection of Handle & Kate pieces whose forms are influenced by Sydney's ocean pools.
At 145mm in length with a 32mm projection and two fixing points, the Clovelly 145mm is a bridge pull — an elongated form that the hand wraps around to open a drawer or cabinet door. It sits at a scale suited to medium cabinet doors and drawers, reading with quiet authority against the joinery without dominating it. Designers frequently specify it for kitchen cabinetry, bathroom vanities, laundry joinery and bedroom wardrobes — spaces where hardware is touched repeatedly and quality of material is felt as much as seen.
Slip cast on Gadigal & Bidjigal Country in Sydney from a local clay with porcelain qualities, each Clovelly 145mm is trimmed and finished by hand before being bisque fired, glazed and glaze fired in our studio. The hand-forming of each piece is visible in the finished object and facilitates a more tactile experience with use and time.
The Clovelly 145mm furniture pull is available in eight glaze finishes, ranging from the gloss depth of Black Pearl and White Caps to the feel of satin matte glazes Salt Spray and Squid Ink Black. The sheer glazes — Lagoon, Deep Sea, Oyster and Crystal Clear — are particularly suited to interiors where the clay body itself is part of the design intention, allowing the porcelain to read through the finish. All glazes are food safe and waterproof, making the Clovelly 145mm appropriate for wet areas and outdoor cabinetry as well as interior settings.
